Italian football has produced many World Cup champions and Champions League winners over the years, with its domestic league – Serie A – at the heart of the country’s excellence in the beautiful game.
Top-level football in Italy has been played since the 1800s, but it’s since the name change to Serie A in 1929 that Italian clubs started to gain more prominence – AC Milan winning the European Cup in just its eighth season in 1962/63.
Today, Serie A remains ultra-competitive, with the two Milan-based clubs – AC and Inter – battling it out with the likes of Napoli, Juventus, Atalanta and Roma for supremacy.
Inter Milan won the title by a whopping 19 points during the 2023/24 campaign, so they are very much the team to catch in Serie A.
Serie A Betting Odds
Here at interwetten, we provide two broad types of Serie A betting odds: match betting and outrights.
We’ll talk about our match betting in a moment, but first, let’s consider the different outright markets that are available on our Serie A betting site.
The Serie A odds that remain particularly popular are those for league winner. Quite simply, the Serie A title odds are paid out on the team that lifts the trophy at the end of the season.
We also offer top finish options. These include top four, top six and top-half finishes, which can be a good way to bet on a fancied team that you suspect might not be able to maintain a title charge.
At interwetten, we’re also interested in matters at the wrong end of the Serie A table – hence our relegation betting market. You can wager on the team(s) you believe will suffer the dreaded drop at the end of the season.
Then we have the Italian Serie A odds for individual games. There are 38 rounds of matches in this division, so there’s no shortage of opportunities to place your bets on the competition.
Here’s a look at some of the most popular options when betting on Serie A:
Match Winner
As the name implies, these are Serie A betting odds focusing on a specific game, in which your job is to predict who will win. The scoreline is not important; predict the team that claims the three points and your bet will be successful.
Double Chance/Draw No Bet
If you want to hedge your bets, rather than betting on the match winner market you can instead try Draw No Bet – your stake is returned if the game ends in stalemate, or Double Chance: here, your bet is successful if the team you back wins OR draws.
Handicaps
Similar to spread betting in other sports, you can bet on either + or – handicaps on either team in a game. This either takes a goal (or multiple goals) away from a team’s score, or adds a goal(s) to a team’s score. Bets are then settled on this hypothetical revised scoreline.
Both Teams to Score
A betting market that requires no introduction, BTTS – as it is sometimes known – simply requires both teams to register at least one goal.
Total Goals
We will provide you with numerous different goal lines – 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 etc – and your job is to predict whether the game will go under or over the line. For example, if the line is 2.5, then ‘overs’ bets win if a match sees three or more goals, whereas ‘unders’ bets would win if there were two or fewer.
Correct Score
What will the final score be? That’s the only consideration when placing a correct score bet. You can also ‘Dutch’ two, three or more scorelines together, which spreads your risk and increases the possibility of hitting on the right result.
First/Last/Anytime Goalscorer
There are lots of different ‘player prop’ betting markets to explore at interwetten, but the most popular is wagering on which player(s) will score in a game. There are separate options for first goalscorer in the match, the last, and any time goalscorer.

Serie A Betting Tips
If you want to try and improve the strike rate of your Serie A wagers, you can implement the following Serie A betting tips to see if they help:
- Check the team news BEFORE you bet (player injuries, suspensions etc)
- Analyse home/away form
- Consider the difficulty of the teams’ recent schedules (this can be more insightful than merely looking at their results)
- Incorporate advanced stats, such as Expected Goals (xG), in your analysis
- Consider the weather and its potential impact on a game (e.g. cold and windy games can be low-scoring)
